The Gender Engineering in the Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 addresses the fundamental differences between the way men and women run. Through extensive research, Mizuno has learned that creating shoes that fit closer to these specific running styles, performance is maximized.
Women have a wider pelvis than men causing them to pronate more when their feet land. Additionally, less muscle mass and softer connective tissue in women increases the speed at which the ankle rolls inward. By making their shoes more flexible with more pronounced flex grooves and the outside heel more rounded, Mizuno produced a softer landing, slowing the inward roll of the ankle, producing a more desired result for female runners.
Upper: AIRMesh™ with synthetic overlays for support provides the utmost in breathability and comfort of the upper. Dynamotion Fit™ relieves the stress the foot naturally places on footwear and eliminates distortion in the collar and heel during the gait cycle that results in heel slippage and a poor fit.
Midsole: Full length AP+ midsole. Enhancing the inherent properties of AP Midsole, AP+ improves the quality of the running experience by offering increased rebound and a "bouncier" feeling, which extends the cushion durability, while maintaining the light weight performance you expect. The Mizuno Wave® is a full-length composite Double Fan Wave providing the perfect blend of cushioning and support in a package that transitions like no other. SmoothRide is an engineering approach to minimize the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot through the phases of the running gait cycle by reducing shock vibration and increasing flexibility, creating the smoothest ride possible. Forefoot flex controllers minimize energy loss by optimizing flexibility. VS-1 shock absorbing cushioning compound in the heel and forefoot. InterCool is a full length midsole ventilation system reducing heat and humidity that builds up inside the shoe. A removable Ortholite® sockliner provides a responsive first feel.

Outsole: X-10™ featured in this shoe is the most durable carbon rubber that allows for longer wear in high impact areas and supplements traction at heel strike. SmoothRide Engineered, a solid rubber forefoot outsole design for durability and flexibility. A redesigned heel contact area provides a softer touch on initial contact. A combination of solid and blown rubber in the forefoot provides cushioning, durability and optimal flexibility.
