The Gender Engineering in the Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 addresses the fundamental differences between the way men and women run. Through extensive research, Mizuno has learned that creating shoes that fit closer to these specific running styles, performance is maximized.
Women have a wider pelvis than men causing them to pronate more when their feet land. Additionally, less muscle mass and softer connective tissue in women increases the speed at which the ankle rolls inward. By making their shoes more flexible with more pronounced flex grooves and the outside heel more rounded, Mizuno produced a softer landing, slowing the inward roll of the ankle, producing a more desired result for female runners.
Upper: AIRMesh™ with synthetic overlays for support provides the utmost in breathability and comfort of the upper. Dynamotion Fit™ relieves the stress the foot naturally places on footwear and eliminates distortion in the collar and heel during the gait cycle that results in heel slippage and a poor fit.
Midsole: The Mizuno Wave® is a full-length composite Double Fan Wave providing the perfect blend of cushioning and support in a package that transitions like no other. SensorPoint suspension system connects the Wave plate to the ground, thereby enhancing stability and traction. Dual density heel SensorPoints enhance support properties of Wave Technology. SmoothRide is an engineering approach to minimize the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot through the phases of the running gait cycle by reducing shock vibration and increasing flexibility, creating the smoothest ride possible. AP Midsole is a lightweight and responsive yet durable cushioning polymer. VS-1 shock absorbing cushioning compound in the heel and forefoot. InterCool is a full length midsole ventilation system reducing heat and humidity that builds up inside the shoe. A removable Ortholite® sockliner provides a responsive first feel.
Outsole: X-10™ featured in this shoe is the most durable carbon rubber that allows for longer wear in high impact areas and supplements traction at heel strike. SmoothRide Engineered, a solid rubber forefoot outsole design for durability and flexibility.
